   The Brea Police Department has created a voluntary business/resident video camera registry system for the City of Brea. Enrolling in this program is completely voluntary. The goal of the program is to assist the Brea Police Department, fellow citizens and business owners by registering your camera information from either your home or business to help solve a crime. The only time the Police Department would contact you is if a crime occurs in your area and we believe that your video camera may assist in the investigation.

    Policy: Registration is voluntary and you may withdraw your registration at any time. Registering your information does not provide the Brea Police Department with direct access to your video surveillance system. All video surveillance camera locations are kept in a secure database, and except as otherwise required by law, your information will only be accessed by law enforcement personnel who are investigating crime in the vicinity of where your camera is located. You will only be contacted by the Brea Police Department in the event there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of your video camera. Police personnel, if necessary, may request a copy of any video captured by your camera, which may assist in the investigation of a crime. Terms of Use: the goal of the program is to help solve crimes and promote public safety through collaboration between the Brea Police Department and our residents and businesses. Accordingly, all participants agreed to the following terms and conditions: 1. Any footage containing or related to criminal activity may be collected by the Brea Police Department for use as evidence during any stage of a criminal investigation. 2. Under no circumstances shall participants represent that they are acting as an agent and/or employee of the City of Brea or the Brea Police Department through the program. 3. If necessary, the Brea Police Department will contact you directly using the information provided on the website, to request appropriate video surveillance footage.
