The Brea Police Department recognizes the value of participating in task forces with our allied agencies. As such, we have one detective assigned to the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force (OCATT) and another assigned to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Orange County Violent Crime Task Force. The Orange County Auto Theft Task Force, or OCATT for short, proactively investigates crimes involving the theft of vehicles and vehicle fraud. In addition, they provide vehicle theft training to allied agencies, and educate the public in vehicle theft prevention. OCATT has been highly successful in combating vehicle theft, and vehicle fraud over the past several years within Orange County. For more information on OCATT, visit the OCATT website.
In addition to OCATT, we have another detective assigned to ATF's Orange County Violent Crime Task Force. This group is made up of detectives from various Orange County police agencies, along with agents from the ATF. One of their primary responsibilities is to assist with the investigation, and apprehension, of dangerous criminals who have been involved in a violent crime. This task force has been responsible for the investigation, and apprehension, of several high-profile cases, including a number of robbery series, along with homicides that have occurred here in Orange County. For more information on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, feel free to visit the ATF website.
