Brea Core Plan - Active Transportation Plan

The Orange County Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) awarded the City of Brea for Excellence in Transportation Planning for Brea’s “Connecting the Core Active Transportation Plan (ATP).” This Plan was adopted by the City Council on January 21, 2020, and is an integral part of the Brea Envisions Community Strategic Plan. This Plan was also granted a Merit for Public Outreach award since it was developed with extensive community input gathered through a series of workshops, meetings with local stakeholders, pop-up events, and a design charrette. Furthermore, it provides a set of implementable actions to guide future improvements and serves as a foundation for a safe, sustainable, and connected community. 

These awards from APA make the Plan eligible for the APA California Chapter awards in both Transportation Planning and Public Outreach. A special thanks and congratulations to the Public Works Department, the Communications & Marketing Division who assisted with outreach, and the staff and community that contributed to the plan.

On September 16, 2021, The City of Brea received an Award of Merit from the California Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) for the Brea Connecting the Core Active Transportation Plan (ATP). This is the second award this ATP plan has received this year. Congrats to all that contributed to this effort!
