Nutrition

Healthy nutrition is important at any age. There are several nutrition programs in place to make sure Brea seniors have access to healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals. From enjoying a leisurely meal at the Senior Center with friends, taking home a freshly prepared salad, or stocking up on grocery items, we have you covered. Explore your options below.

Senior Lunch Café Program

All Brea residents are invited to have lunch at the Brea Senior Center. Lunch is provided by Meals on Wheels Orange County, Monday through Thursday, and served promptly at noon. Monthly menus are posted at the Senior Center, in the senior publication What’s Doin’ and online. The congregate lunch dining program serves a wide variety of delicious, healthy lunches where guests enjoy a tasty meal along with friendly conversation and fellowship. For all meals, a donation of $3 or more per meal is suggested for those 60 years of age and older. The fee for those less than 60 years of age is $5. Free shuttle transportation is provided for qualifying Brea seniors on a space available basis.

Senior Grocery Program

Provided by Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County
The Senior Grocery Program will be held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. To ensure a smooth distribution, we will be using a Grab N’ Go method in the courtyard. Due to limited parking and construction, we kindly ask that arrive no earlier than 1 p.m. to pick up your pre- selected groceries and depart promptly to allow others to be served efficiently. Please remember to bring your own bags.

Home Delivered Meals Program

The Brea Senior Center’s Home Delivered Meal Program is a community-based volunteer effort distributing nutritious meals to home-bound Brea seniors, Monday through Friday. In partnership with Meals on Wheels Orange County, Brea offers home delivered meal for seniors (60 years and older) who are unable to shop for and/or prepare nutritious meals. The service is designed to provide both long-term and short-term help for disabled, frail, or chronically ill seniors, as well as offer regular outside contact and encouragement from a caring volunteer. For more information, please contact our Case Manager at (714) 990-7781.
