Volunteer Now for Go. Serve. Brea. April is National Volunteer Month and the City of Brea commemorates it by hosting a community-wide day of service on Saturday, April 26, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Available service projects range from mulching The Tracks at Brea, cleaning the Brea Museum, painting, and event set-up. The day begins with an 8:00 a.m. Kick-Off Rally, where t-shirts will be distributed and light refreshments will be available, before heading off to service projects. At 12:00 p.m., everyone will gather back at the Civic Center for a free lunch. Sign up now to volunteer for a service project this year! Another way to participate is to make a monetary donation that will help with purchasing materials for the projects. This event spreads kindness and impacts lives! Save the Date for The Fire Department & Public Works Open House Join us for a day of fun activities at the Fire Department & Public Works Open House on Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The event will take place at Fire Station 1 and the adjacent City Service Center. Both are located on Berry Street, between Lambert Rd. and Central Ave. This family-friendly event features equipment and vehicle displays, demonstrations, refreshments, and giveaways. There will also be opportunities to learn about water and energy conservation, recycling, composting, and the careful disposal of electronic or hazardous waste. Mark your calendars!

Cal Fire Maps Now Available Cal Fire has officially released updated wildfire hazard maps throughout the state, which includes Brea. The new maps incorporate information on topography, fire weather, flame length, past fire history, vegetation type and the overall likelihood of a wildfire igniting in the area. Homeowners can use these maps to assess their own risk and take potentially life-saving steps to make their properties more fire resistant. Life > Drugs Free Educational Workshop for Teens This workshop is presented by Waymakers and the Orange County Health Care Agency. Explore the ways media and social media influences youth. Taking place on Monday, April 14 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Brea Community Center Room A. This interactive workshop will help youth gain media literacy skills to recognize and break down alcohol and other drug messaging. OC Free Gun Lock Program Keeping your family and community safe is simple. The OC Free Gun Lock Program provides free firearm locks to Orange County residents, helping prevent unauthorized access and reduce the risk of accidents. This program is open to all residents, with priority given to households in the Fourth District. Orange County residents can now request free gun locks through an online form at d4.ocgov.com/FreeGunLocks, with locks mailed directly to their homes. Each package includes a QR Code, linking to a video tutorial on safe firearm storage and information about California's evolving gun laws, including SB 53, which require secure storage for all firearms starting in 2026.
