57 Freeway and Lambert Road interchange construction

New Dates for Closures Related to the 57/Lambert Interchange Improvement Project


Work continues on the 57 Freeway/Lambert Road Interchange Improvement project. This month, the reconstruction of the widening portion of the northbound 57 Freeway main bridge will begin. To accommodate this, Caltrans will conduct a 55-hour closure of all lanes on Lambert Road, beneath the freeway bridge. The full closure will start at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17 and lanes will re-open at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20.To continue the reconstruction, overnight lane closures will occur beginning Monday, February 20 for the following 2-3 weeks. Overnight closures will take place from 10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. 


Closures include: 

  • Complete closure of Eastbound and Westbound Lambert Road, from ramp to ramp 
  • Northbound mainlane slow lanes (2 lanes at night, 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.; one lane during the day, 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
  • All 4 ramps will remain open

Beginning Monday, February 20 through March 3, overnight closures, from 10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.  

Closures include:

  • Complete closure of Eastbound and Westbound Lambert Road, from ramp to ramp
  • No access beneath the bridge 
  • Ramps on and off the freeway will remain open 
  • Northbound mainlane 2 slow lanes

Please note that in order to safely handle any unforeseen issues and to keep the project on track, it may be necessary to modify the schedule or the work plan. We will make every effort to update the information as soon as it’s received.

Brea 8K Impacts Traffic

The Brea 8K returns to our streets next weekend! To accommodate the race, traffic will be impacted with street closures on Sunday, February 26, between 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Residents are urged to plan ahead, allow extra time, and take alternate routes if possible. Streets affected by slowdown and intermittent closure will include:

  • State College Boulevard (from Birch Street to Imperial Highway), 
  • Birch Street (from Poplar to Associated Road)
  • Associated Road (from Lambert Road to Birch Street) 
  • Country Hills Road (from Associated Road to Kraemer Avenue). 

Affected neighborhoods will be Poplar Street between Birch Street and Madison Avenue, West Glenbrook, Birchwood Village, and all Country Hills neighborhoods west of Kraemer Circle. All proceeds from the race go to support various programs at the Brea Olinda High School including Instrumental Band and Color Guard, Vocal Music, and the Global IT Academic Booster Club.
