Community Development Visits Dr. Squatch in Brea

Members of the Community Development Department recently had the opportunity to visit and tour Dr. Squatch’s Bricc City manufacturing site, where they learned the process behind Dr. Squatch’s renowned handmade soaps. Known for their commitment to quality and natural ingredients, Dr. Squatch offers a range of products, including bar soaps, deodorants, hair care, private hygiene, and more, many of which are proudly made right here in Brea.

During the tour, the team learned about Dr. Squatch’s rigorous testing and quality control measures, which ensure that their products are between 98% to 100% of natural origin and free from harmful ingredients. Originally formulated for men, Dr. Squatch has expanded and recently introduced Jukebox — a captivating line designed specifically for women, embodying the same commitment to quality and natural ingredients.

The visit was insightful and highlighted Dr. Squatch’s dedication to crafting high-quality, environmentally-conscious products, and setting an example in the personal care industry. The City is proud to have Dr. Squatch as a prominent business in Brea

Brea is a 2024 Fire Risk Reduction Community

The Brea Fire Department is proud to announce its designation as a 2024 Fire Risk Reduction Community (FRRC). This prestigious recognition is part of the state’s effort to enhance fire safety and resilience across California’s high-risk areas. This designation significantly enhances the Brea Fire Department's eligibility for CAL FIRE's Wildfire Prevention Grants. These grants are awarded based on the overall benefit to reducing wildfire threats to people, structures, and communities. Projects that align with the FRRC criteria are given priority; promoting comprehensive sustainable wildfire prevention efforts across the state.

The designation as FRRC may have a positive impact on Brea residents in addressing the challenges of obtaining homeowners insurance. In 2022, the State of California Department of Insurance issued regulations that require insurance companies to factor in the FRRC designation when offering insurance rates. The FRRC list includes local agencies situated in the state responsibility areas or very high fire hazard severity zones that meet best practices for local fire planning. Brea Fire Department has successfully met the rigorous criteria set forth by the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection, demonstrating a commitment to advanced fire prevention and planning.
