Engage Brea is Back

The City of Brea is once again offering a community engagement program called, Engage Brea, Understanding Your City. This eight-week program is hosted by the City, in partnership with California State University, Fullerton Professor Scott Spitzer, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Political Science. Engage Brea provides community members an opportunity to connect with their local government leaders, while offering a general overview of City operations, departments, and external agencies. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., from March 21 – May 2, culminating at the May 7 City Council meeting. Visit the City’s website for more details and to register. Engage Brea is not restricted to Brea residents, but residents do have a pre-registration opportunity through February 15.

Become a Love Brea Sponsor!

This year, Love Brea will take place on Saturday, April 27. The City will begin to take project submissions on February 23, and on March 22, volunteer sign-ups begin. But to make Love Brea a success, the City needs the community’s help in the form of donations or sponsorships. Contributions help cover the cost of supplies, equipment, and other expenses necessary to make the event run smoothly. With your help, the City can provide this opportunity to come together and celebrate our community.

All donations are welcome, but there are also several sponsorship levels available. Each sponsorship offers different levels of recognition and exposure. All sponsors will be recognized at the event and on the Love Brea 2024 volunteer shirt. If you wish to be a sponsor, please submit your form by March 25.

Remain Vigilant During Coyote Mating Season

For the next four to six weeks, you may see an increase in coyote activity. This time of year, is coyote mating season. Male coyotes can become more aggressive and pose a threat to your dogs and/or small pets. Please bring in your pets and do not leave them alone at night. During this time, coyotes will target dogs to chase them toward their pack and may even attack them. For more tips to deter coyotes year-round, and information on reporting coyote sighting and encounters, please visit www.cityofbrea.net/coyotes. As a reminder, if you experience a coyote attack or threat to a human, call 9-1-1 immediately.
