The Brea Gallery's exhibition 'Made in California' is now open until June 23. This annual juried exhibit showcases artwork from all over the state of California. MICA strives to highlight artists in all stages of their careers and offers them a chance to compete for a number of cash prizes, as well as the coveted solo show opportunity. This regional show features artwork from an extensive variety of mediums and explores creative movements happening in California.
This year's exhibition, juried by Director Katie Chidester, guest juror Dr. Megan Debin, and gallery staff, features over 100+ artworks that explore the contemporary subject matters, styles, and media of the past three years. The Solo Show winner, The Light Gets In by Karima Cammell, elevates medieval iconography and media, "reflecting modern anxieties, with images of wealth disparity, extinction fears, and isolation while exploring the paradox of tragedy and beauty." As visitors make their way through the gallery, they will find Award Winning Ribbons next to selected juried works.
