Orange County Waste & Recycling is hosting a digital information meeting on the update of the Olinda Alpha Landfill Closure Date. All community members are invited to participate and provide comments. This is the only opportunity for residents to speak-out and voice their concerns to the County about extending the closure date of the Olinda Alpha Landfill.
The Olinda Alpha Landfill, located in the east side of Brea, is operated by the County of Orange. The City of Brea is a “Host City” under a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that benefits the City and limits the amount of trash that can be hauled on a daily basis. The landfill is allowed to accept no more than 8,000 tons per day and is proactive with environmental issues through a variety of programs. Landfill capacity is evaluated on an annual basis. Under the current MOU, the landfill is scheduled to close on December 31, 2021. The County is looking to extend the landfill's closure date to 2036.
