On Wednesday afternoon, units from the Brea Fire Department assisted LA County Fire and Orange County Fire Authority with a vegetation fire off the northbound 57 freeway, north of Tonner Canyon Road. The 16-acre fire was 100% contained by 3:00 p.m. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and being investigated. Fire units will remain on scene for the next few hours.
The City was notified that a SCE Public Safety Power Shutoff had been initiated on the circuit impacting Olinda Village, Hollydale and Capriana. Please visit www.sce.com for more details and updates.
As of 4:30 p.m., all resources from the fire have returned to the City. Traffic continues to be impacted throughout the city due to the fire and SCE Public Safety Power Shutoff. The northbound 57 FWY remains partially closed. For freeway updates, visit www.chp.ca.gov.
