The American with Disabilities ACT (ADA) protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of disability. Part of the Act also requires local governments to work to make their facilities, programs and services accessible to persons with disabilities. Public entities are required to complete a self-evaluation, along with receiving input from the public to determine whether they are in compliance with ADA standards and regulations. Once completed, the City's Transition Plan will include steps need to reach ADA compliance over the next 25 years.
