Curious about how art goes from a pile of materials to the dazzling final product you see on gallery walls? Starting out in the art world and looking for some advice from exhibiting, working artists? Big fan of creativity and lively conversations? Then look no further than our Fresh{AIR} weekend! For two days, fabric and textile artist Alex Gano will be in the gallery, answering your questions and making fresh art before your very eyes!

About the Artist
Raised in Southern California in a highly creative environment, I was constantly surrounded by artists, and creatives of all types. I studied fine arts at the University of Tasmania School of Art, in Hobart Tasmania, and later furniture making at San Diego Mesa College. I have worked extensively in the museum, and exhibits industry, including the Getty, The Denver Art Museum, and the San Diego Natural History Museum. Currently living in Los Angeles, I am focused on exploring new avenues for creative expression through my sculptural works.
I have long been fascinated with the aesthetics of industrialization, nature, and the processes of growth and decay. How we as a species interact with, and interpret the world around us continues to have massive impacts on our relationship with nature. This is especially true regarding the ubiquitous presence of large scale industrialization, and the harvesting of resources for human consumption. As our relationships with the natural world change, so our social, and political landscapes shift in response.
Through my works I find a place where the industrialized world, and nature intersect, to examine issues connected with this ever changing relationship.
