[ARCHIVED] South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Extends Multiple Advisories

AQA Update Top Story

Though air quality in Brea is improving, South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has three air quality advisories in effect within Brea.

Wildfire Smoke Advisory

AQI due to PM2.5 may reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups or higher category in northern and central Orange County and western San Bernardino County near Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga.

For additional information, visit the AQMD webpage: Wildfire Smoke & Ash Health & Safety Tips

Windblown Dust Advisory

High winds will impact most of Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties in the South Coast Air Basin and the Coachella Valley. Blowing dust along with blowing ash from recent burn areas that were affected by summer wildfires may result in Air Quality Index (AQI) levels that are Unhealthy or worse.

For tips on safe ash clean-up, please visit South Coast AQMD’s page: Wildfire Smoke & Ash Health & Safety Tips.

No-Burn Day Alert

South Coast AQMD has issued a residential No-Burn Day alert for all those living in the South Coast Air Basin, which includes Orange County and non-desert portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. The No-Burn rule prohibits burning wood as well as manufactured fire logs, such as those made from wax or paper. South Coast AQMD reminds residents in these areas that burning wood in their fireplaces or any indoor or outdoor wood-burning device is prohibited at any time until further notice.

More information on all air quality advisories can be found at: www.aqmd.gov/advisory.

Residents can also check their air quality in real-time by visiting www.AQMD.gov and scrolling to the bottom of the page.
