Fresh(AIR): Artist in Residence Weekend

Every exhibition, the Brea Gallery aims to highlight some of our artists by hosting a weekend residency called Fresh(AIR). For two days, an artist will come in to work on a piece of art in the gallery. Our goal is to remove some of the barriers and understanding of the art process by allowing visitors to engage with working artists, ask questions, and see art being created before their very eyes! This exhibitions installment will feature 99 Voices in Pastel and Made in California 2024 artist Rachel Joob!

Using a mix of pastels, acrylics and colored pencils, I work intuitively to explore the intersection of the natural world and the human form. Through organic shapes and repetitive curving lines reminiscent of growth found in nature, I work through themes of transformation creating pieces that feel both familiar and otherworldly.
